TCMA 2015 Conference

The TCMA 2015 Annual Conference is being held from 8.30am on Tuesday 14th July until lunchtime on Thursday 16th July 2015 at Griffith University – Logan Campus, which is located between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.  Our theme for 2015 is “Spirited Aspiration” which aims to build on the challenge presented to chaplaincy at universities to assist in the maintenance and potential development of the whole being of each member of the university community.  Each university draws on a source population with its own mix of cultures and demographics.  The City of Logan has seen rapid development coupled to a young population, with around 50 percent of residents aged 30 or younger from 200 cultures.  The conference will showcase social programs which seek to address the challenges faced by university chaplaincy and will connect the basic philosophy with a strong social justice component and care for the disadvantaged.  Included in the conference is an opportunity to experience the culture and the food of Torres Strait Islanders, whose traditional home is at the most northern tip of Queensland.

A pre-conference workshop is available on Monday, 13 July at 4.00pm with afternoon tea available from 3.30pm.  Conference registration is available at this time as well as before a casual dinner, starting at 6.00pm, at the conference preferred accommodation provider, Meadowbrook Hotel (see details below).  Dinner will be at the delegate’s own expense.
